Despite the name, this 6" x 6" Cork Wall Tile is not only for walls - one option is to use it with your paper piercer! Another: store your pins and needles in between uses. It's a forgiving surface - poking it with pins and sharp objects won't ruin the quality. Always good to have on hand while crafting.
