The StencilGirl Abacus Gallery Stencil features a beautiful and intricate design inspired by the ancient abacus. The elegant geometric pattern is perfect for adding texture and interest to your art journal, mixed media project, or any other creative endeavor.
Kelly Cameron's Abacus Gallery was inspired by an old abacus that her mom had for decor which she would play with as a child.
Kelly says, 'There’s just something about a circle, perhaps that it’s complete whether it’s absolutely perfect or not? Maybe it’s the fact that the edges are endless? Circles, dots and balls are so much fun, they make me happy just as they are, but when they are on a wire like an abacus, that suggests movement and that means even more happiness! Silly I know, but that is what inspired these designs!
I cut my stencil into four pieces, even rounding the corners. I’ve had a great time doing positive/negative gelli prints , using them as backgrounds for greeting cards and similar projects. These designs stand out when used individually but they also compliment one another should you choose to combine them in whatever you’re creating.
'The design is on the small side so I recommend thinner paper for gelli printing. I personally love to use bleeding tissue paper! The end results are detailed and so versatile. Enjoy!'
