The Waffle Flower 5.5 x 8.5 inch Grip Mat fits perfectly in the 6x9 Media Mat. It's not always the bigger, the better when it comes to Grip Mat sizes. Waffle Flower's stencil sizes are usually 5.2 5x 6.5 inches or 6x6 inches. This 5.5 x 8.5 inch mat is the perfect rectangle size for stenciling with these stencils—simply leave a little corner of the stencil hanging off the mat so it can be easily peeled off when inking is done.
The Waffle Flower Grip Mats are designed to gently hold stencils and cardstock in place during stenciling and ink blending. When using cardstock alone, the smoother the paper, the better the grip. This mat significantly reduces the need for taping, allowing more time for creative play.
Made from high-quality photopolymer, stickiness is a natural property of the material. The mat can be used repeatedly without any adhesives or glue. Between uses, the surface can be refreshed with a dampened, lint-free cloth. Peel the mat off the cardstock to minimize warping. Compared to the 2023 version, this mat might appear cloudier and feel stickier to the touch.
The included printed Guide can be used below or above the mat to aid placement when needed. The Guide is slightly smaller than the mat, so it can be left on the back to help move it in and out of the work surface easily. To prevent any print transfer, always apply the Guide to the mat with the reversed side facing away from the mat.
If the mat loses its cling, it can be cleaned with water or photopolymer-safe cleaners. If using soap, rinse well under running water and do not leave it in the sink. Never use alcohol or other chemical-based cleaners. Return it to the transparent sheet for storage, and do not stack heavy items on top.
User experience may vary depending on the size, weight, and texture of the paper. Low spots and air bubbles are normal and should not affect the mat's ability to grip. Avoid contact with foiled images and fine glitters/powders, and avoid contact with sharp edges or abrasive materials. Wear and tear are expected with regular use.
