Switchables Squares and Rectangles Stencil, from the Hello Spring collection, feature blank frames, and templates with circles and stars, netting, flowers and other patterns. Switchables are a creative stencil system by Polkadoodles, designed to offer more possibilities in an easy-to-use, buildable format. This set includes one 6 x 8-inch, 190-micron mylar stencil that fits most card shapes but can also be layered for larger projects, plus additional masks.
These stencils provide multiple ways to build patterns, add blending effects, and create interest on cards, scrapbook pages, and other crafting surfaces. They can also be used with a die-cutting machine and an embossing mat to create embossed backgrounds.
When you receive the Switchable stencil, simply snip out the center patterns with scissors and remove the tabs, which are only in place to keep them secure during transit.
Use the aperture stencil as a mask to create blending panels on a card—overlapping them can create layers and mosaics. The stencil also eliminates the need for masking off blending areas by acting as a stencil and mask in one. You can highlight areas of a stamped image by placing the stencil over the section you want to emphasize and blending ink around it while keeping the rest of the image masked.
The small Switchable pattern stencils offer additional creative options. Place them into the aperture to create a patterned background, or blend ink through the aperture first and then add the pattern for a double-color effect. You can switch the patterns within the apertures for different looks, layer the patterns over inked apertures for a double-layer effect, or use them alone to create unique patterned backgrounds for cards, crafts, and custom backing papers.
