Stamperia Wash It Water Resistant Finish is a water-based, transparent, water-resistant acrylic varnish designed to protect decoupage, rice paper, thick cardstock, painted surfaces, glass, porcelain, ceramics, and other mixed media projects. It also functions as a fabric medium when mixed with acrylic paints, making it a versatile finish for a wide variety of creative techniques.
For glass, porcelain, ceramics, and other hard surfaces, ensure the project is completely dry and free of dust and grease before applying the varnish evenly with a brush or by pouring. Cover the entire surface, paying special attention to sealing the edges of decoupage or rice paper. Apply additional coats if desired to create a beautiful glazed finish. Allow the varnish to dry and cure for at least 24 hours before placing the finished piece in the dishwasher.
As a fabric medium, Wash It is mixed directly with acrylic paints, such as Stamperia Allegro Acrylic Paints. Before painting, pre-wash the fabric to remove any factory sizing or finishes for better adhesion. Instead of diluting your acrylic paints with water, mix them directly with Wash It and paint your design as usual. Allow the painted fabric to dry completely, then heat-set it, typically by ironing the reverse side of the fabric, to make the design permanent and water-resistant.
